President of the National Commission for the Management of the Biodiversity.  President of the Intergovernmental Council of the Marine Park of the Pacific. Coordinator of the Binational Project" Procuenca San Juan Costa Rica - Nicaragua".

Professor of the Latin American University of Science and Technology.

President of the Bureau of the Parties to the 16 period of the Montreal Protocol on substances that deplete the ozone layer, United Nations Program for the Environment.

Currently Chairman of the Executive Board and Vice-President of the Committee on Sustainability of the World Tourism Organization.  Minister of Tourism of Costa Rica and President of the Costa Rica Tourism Board.
